Bass Flies

Bass Bug
My bass flies are a little different from the traditional hackled tail bugs. I like to use marabou instead for the tail. It gives the fly a lot more life and I find the fly is easier to cast. The bass just love them.

Slider
The slider is a fly that likes to sneak through the weeds and lilly pads just rattling Mr. Bass's last nerve. Get a few to try. Your arm will need a break and the bass will need anger management counseling.

Diver
This is a traditional Dalberg diver with a rabbit strip tail and a marabou over wing. This fly has very nice action in the water and is a must have in your fly box.

Gurbler
The gurbler is a very effective fly and one of my favorites. I really like to use a black one just as the sun is going down around a boat dock or stumps. Mine are tied without the hackle for a reason. I like to have the fly sink just below the surface. Be careful with these as you might just get your rod ripped out of your hands by a huge bass. A risk worth taking!!

Floating Minnow
This is a classic spun deer hair head floating minnow. The way to fish this pattern is let it sit on the surface for awhile then the line a tug making it dive then stop and let it float slowly up to the top like a bait fish in trouble. Drives the bass nuts.

Wiggle Frog
Frogs are a big part of the bass's diet. I have tried deer hair frogs and foam frog patterns and have settle on this as the most effective for chugging through the pads. The strikes can be very violent so if you have a heart condition you may want to be have some extra nitro with you.

Rattling Craft Fur Minnow
I took this pattern that we have offered in the past and have added a glass bead rattle inside the body to make it even more attractive to the bass. I was also catching some nice cat fish with this one night last August.
